So...what IS Kwanzaa?

  1. Michelle, may all of your first fruits of 09 be ripe and delicious.

  2. So... do you celebrate Kwanzaa, Michelle?

I've never known anyone who does, so just take my question in the "spirit of inquiry."

  3. Thanks for the enlightenment, Michelle. We should all know (at the very least) the bare rudiments of other folks festivities, so we don't inadvertently tick each other off!

  4. This was interesting; I actually did know very little about Kwanzaa until today.;)
Love the way you designed the post; I am very visual and this format speaks to the artist within.;))

  5. Angie: And your fruits as well. :)

Buck: I accept the 'ideals' of family and community. But I don't go all the way with getting dressed up for the holiday or lighting candles. I wanted to make a post about this because there are people who know absolutely nothing about it and the holiday isn't mentioned frequently. Or Kwanzaa is usually lumped into being celebrated on Christmas day, and the holiday starts afterward.

To date: over 15 million people celebrate Kwanzaa nationwide whether they are Christian, or Jewish, or Protestant because it is a nonreligious holiday that can bring all people, no matter what beliefs they harbor, together as one.

Suldog: You are welcome. I love sharing what little knowledge I have about things. ;)

Protege: I like the border, I just wish I could have made the whole thing bigger so the words are easier to read. :)

  7. Happy Kawanzaa! :)

If you want that image to appear larger, go into html mode, find it and change the width pixels from what I beleve is 248(ish) to 400. Then just delete the height pixels so that it will resize accordingly.

So change what looks something like this:
    width: 248px; height: 625px;"

    To this:
    width: 400px;"

-removing height: 625px; but leaving the closing quote.

    Hope that helps.

Hilary: Thanks on both counts. I don't know why I'm having pic problems now. I didn't before. I'm making a note on this for future reference. :)

    Laughingwolf: Thanks hon! :)
