Click those ruby slippers together and say, “There’s no place like a writing career!”

Chink-chink-chink. Hey! That salesperson lied to me! I knew I shouldn’t have bought these things at the Emerald City Thrift Store.

Okay, I admit the slippers are not ruby red. They are more like plum purple. But the woman said they were magic. I had no reason to think she was lying. Her employee tag said, “Good Clerk Glenda.” All I had to do was believe in their power. Close my eyes and believe I can pursue a writing career.

I had planned to buy the blue ones. Yet the guy from the Strawman Cleaning Services said his wife loved the plum ones while lubricating rusty lug nuts with the manager, Edward Tinman, at the Cowardly Lion car garage. She even worked extra hours there with the manager. Then the cleaning guy scowled and pushed his water bucket further up the aisle.

I get the feeling he thinks his wife might be up to something besides oiling engine parts.

Anyway, I bought the slippers. Yet they are very uncomfortable. I’ve only been walking around in them for four seconds. Maybe I need to sit for a little bit. There. That is so much better. Hmm. Since I’m sitting near the computer, I might as well type something. A nice little story to pass the time until my feet stop hurting.

Tap . . . tap . . . tap-tap-tap-tap.

Wow! Would you look at that? Time really flies. I wrote close to 2500 words in 3 hours. I only need 1000 more words to finish this chapter. And all I had to do was sit my butt down and concentrate on my writing.

No, this can’t possibly be the reason. Sit my butt down and write? Pshaw!

Gasp . . . the slippers! THEY REALLY ARE MAGIC!

For some strange reason, I am being very nostalgic this week. First Elmer Fudd from those “Looney Toon,” cartoons and now characters from “The Wizard of OZ.” Oh well. Let’s just roll with it. Ew! I noticed something else. I’ve been making posts about writing. I’ve been giving USEFUL information. Sigh. I guess it had to happen. The description for this blog does say that I give out tidbits now and then.

Protege: Your cat shredded the slippers? That was one feisty cat! :)

  7. Haha, I'm wishing I had some of those slippers right about now. I can't seem to focus long enough to write more than 100 words these days.

  8. Miss Young Author: Believe me, these shoes are so uncomfortable that it forces me to write how uncomfortable they are. Thanks for stopping by!

laughingwolf: Too bad there isn't a character featuring your name. That would have been a good read.
